Meet the New Makita XGT 40V Cordless Power Tool System

New Makita XGT 40V Cordless Power Tool System

Makita XGT 40max takes Lithium-ion to the next level, powering a new range of stand-alone tools available from 2020. Makita has created new battery technology and motor engineering to give optimum performance in higher demand industrial applications. Power cables just became a thing of the past, giving more freedom to the user and a higher degree of job site safety avoiding cable hazards. Here at AHC Powertools we already sell a huge range of cordless power tools

The XGT 40V battery system will coexist with LXT and continue towards Makita’s vision of a battery solution for all applications. The new range is not backwards compatible with the LXT platform though Makita will continue to invest heavily in LXT, and there is a tremendous roadmap of new LXT and XGT 40max products in the pipeline.

The XGT 40max Batteries will come in 2 sizes, BL4025 which is 2.5Ah delivering 1150W and the BL4040, 4.0Ah with 1510W. The DC40RA Charger will fully charge the Batteries in 28 minutes and the ADP10 Adapter will enable LXT batteries to be charged too. As mentioned earlier, it is worth noting that while the new XGT charger (with adaptor) will charge the LXT batteries, the LXT charger will not charge the XGT batteries.

Utilising Smart Technology, the XGT range of tools and batteries come with a built-in program, providing digital communication between the battery and tool. Allowing not only for the battery to talk with the tool but also the tool to talk to the battery. This gives Makita XGT a foundation to adapt to even higher technology advances in the future. The XGT Range is durable and built to perform. Reliable tools are a must for all professional applications, none more so than high demand industrial applications. So the Batteries include impact absorbing padding and a heavy-duty outer casing.

The tools include added housing and battery terminal strength to absorb heavy duty site use. The batteries and selected tools have been submitted for approval to qualify for IPX4 water resistance protection. This means that they have been built to withstand splashing or spraying water from any angle, further guaranteeing job site reliability.

Will Makita XGT replace the LXT Range?

The answer is NO! Makita will continue to invest heavily in LXT, and there is a tremendous roadmap of new LXT products in the pipeline for trade users in all divisions. The LXT Advantage seamlessly utilizes a single battery across hundreds of products, with the ability of added power by using two 18v batteries in selected Twin 18V products (36V). This is a simple concept that has revolutionised how work is done on job sites.

How does it compare to the DeWalt FlexVolt?
